Pilot Program Flops, Quebec Next

The Liberal government quietly released the long awaited details of their failed Cape Breton Pilot Program for the “buyback” gun grab and it’s exactly what we knew it would be. A grand total of 25 guns were collected during the 6 week long pilot, a tiny fraction of what they were confident they could bring in. Bravo to the good people of Cape Breton for helping this pilot flop, we’re very proud of you.
You would think some of the “lessons learned” would be that this 6 year long embarrassment should be scrapped … but you’d be wrong!! The feds insist that “clearer and more timely instructions” would facilitate better participation lol …
Quebec enters stage left.
We’ve seen the feds bribe local police forces with funding promises of $80k-$2M to help them with their gun grab, but in an announcement this week, the liberals say they will provide the province with a whopping $12.4M to cover the costs of carrying out the gun grab on innocent Quebecers. Quebec gun owners from Montreal to Salluit were shocked to find out their government has sold them out to the feds and are now at the mercy of the Sûreté du Québec who will eventually come knocking.
We’d like to take this time to remind our Quebec friends they are protected by the amnesty until the end of October 2026 just like the rest of us – hang in there.
Quebecers also find themselves in a unique situation because, despite the fact there is a provincial long gun registry in the belle provence, it is widely known that participation in it is low and it is not enforced. Of course, a lot of this will come to light as it is rolled out.
The CCFR sent the following message in a media advisory:
It’s unsurprising that bureaucracies and services in Quebec are in favor of helping the federal government confiscate firearms from licensed individuals as this has been the epicenter of radical and unreasonable gun control in Canada for decades.
As it applies to the rest of the country, more and more Canadians have come to the conclusion that this is exclusively a political exercise. The evidence supporting this view couldn’t be more clear. First, the Minister of Public Safety, nor the Minister of Justice nor the Prime Minister has met with stakeholders on this massive program. Next, the Public Safety Minister’s office today circulated statements containing distracting dialogue about portal design and insufficient instructions while the real reason participation has been dismal is still yet to be acknowledged by them.
That reason is that the federal government has circulated the idea that only so many licensed gun owners are going to be compensated for their firearms. This is entirely contrary to their promise for approaching the last six years.
With an estimated 2 million firearms in circulation that are now prohibited, the government plans to pay for 152,000 of them. Gun owners won’t know whether or not they’ll be compensated until they reveal to the government what they have. This puts gun owners into an untenable position that is as outrageous as it is immoral.
The proof that this is a cynical political undertaking by the Liberal government is this; if the government truly felt that these firearms were too dangerous to be held by licensed gun owners, they would simply guarantee that they would pay for them, full stop. They would just keep their promise.
The Carney Liberals need to abandon this program and realize what a damaging mistake this was on every level.
The CCFR stands with Quebec gun owners who are once again being victimized by their government for both political and financial reasons. You don’t deserve this.
Stay tuned as this is a developing story and more information and a plan will be forthcoming.
