Ottawa, ON — The red poppy, the well-known symbol of remembrance in Canada since 1921, was inspired by John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields and is also pinned to lapels and presented in wreaths at cenotaphs each November 11th in other Commonwealth countries around the world.
