On 28 February 2018, the Office of the JAG celebrated the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Legal Branch and was acknowledged in the House of Commons. The celebrations commenced in earnest with the Centennial Ball on 1 March 2018, which was followed by many key commemorative events during the year. These events included several Speaker’s Corners, a Panel of JAGs moderated by our Honorary Colonel, the Right Honorable Beverley McLachlin, Issue Roundtables, our participation in the 2018 Nijmegen March, numerous Alumni events, artistic dedications and competitions, various Regional displays and occasions, culminating with the unveiling of the Legal Branch’s Royal Banner.  It is imperative that we thank every contributor and participant for their outstanding dedication to this yearlong celebration. Their efforts greatly augmented the esprit de corps of our Branch and enhanced its positive perception as well as that of the Office of the JAG within the Department, the Canadian Armed Forces and the wider legal community.

Our celebrations honoured our Past, while embracing the Present as we look to shape our Future. May our next 100 years be as meaningful.
