Eight years ago, Canadians started to open up about their mental health with the help of the Bell Let’s Talk Campaign.

Why is it so important to talk about mental illness?

Because just like any other health issue, mental illness is an important part of our overall health.

Despite that, many Canadians struggle to find the right words to communicate about it with friends and loved ones. But campaigns like this one are helping to change that.

Every day we must do what we can to break down the barriers to talking about mental health and mental illness. Whether it’s yours or it’s mine. Lets break the stigma and make it the new normal.

Listening and being there for someone who is suffering from mental health issues is the first step on the road to removing that stigma.

Every year, the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence proudly takes part in Bell Let’s Talk campaign.

We ask so much of our women and men in uniform, as they proudly serve Canada across the globe. But that service can take a toll, and we are working hard to ensure that all our members are taken care of.

Through programs at our Military Family Resource Centres, our 24/7 member assistance lines, and many others, we are helping to support our Veterans, and our Canadian Armed Forces members, including their families.

Now it’s your turn. Get involved in any way you can. Start the conversation at work, at home, with friends. And remember you can post on social media as well, using the hashtag #BellLetsTalk to keep that conversation going.

Because Bell will donate five cents to Canadian mental health programs every time you do that.

If you or someone you know needs help, ask for it. We are here to help.

Let’s Talk.
