Mental Health Co-Champions’ Message: Maintaining your mental well-being during the holidays
As the holidays approach, we are all surrounded by messages and commercials encouraging us to be joyful and merry. For some, the reality can be different, and the season brings considerable stress that can take a toll on their mental and physical health.
Whether your challenges are related to travel, financial pressure, family struggles, illness, or the loss of a loved one, it is important to know that you are not alone and that there are resources available to support both civilian and military Defence Team members, as well as their families.
As your Mental Health Co-Champions, we encourage you to make the most out of your holidays by following a few simple tips outlined in this video.
Over the next few weeks, please remember to take care of yourself and your loved ones, and that support is always available to the entire Defence Team family, if and when needed.
- For civilians, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Peer Referral Service, as well as the LifeSpeak Application (internal link) are available.
- For military members, the Canadian Forces Member Assistance Program (CFMAP) is available 24/7 by phone. Additionally, there are Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) programs and services available on the You’re Not Alone web page.
- Both civilian and military members can access immediate assistance 24/7 by calling 1-800-268-7708 (or 1-800-567-5803 for the hearing impaired) for private, professional, short-term counselling.
Rest, relax, refresh, and enjoy the holiday season! See you in the New Year!
