Mark your calendars for the Defence Team Career and Networking Fair on October 17, 2018
Mark your calendars! The Defence Team will hold its first Career and Networking Fair on October 17, 2018 in Ottawa at the Diefenbaker Building, 111 Sussex Drive, as well as in several locations across the country. The main event in Ottawa, which will include workshops, kiosks and panel discussions, will also be available via virtual broadcast, enabling all Defence Team members and current and former students to attend in any time zone using any electronic device. Participants will be able to access the broadcast on the DWAN*, home computers and mobile devices (Wi-Fi recommended).
The Career and Networking Fair, a Blueprint 2020 initiative, is an opportunity to learn more about the diverse and available occupations within the Public Service, Regular Force and Reserves and explore the various programs and services being offered throughout the Departmend of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Participants will be able to talk directly to subject matter experts, recruiters, peers and functional and organizational leaders. A “Career Connections” networking portion will allow participants to talk directly and virtually with hiring managers, and a panel will discuss “Keys to Success: Candid advice on how to succeed in your career” after a keynote address from the Senior Associate Deputy Minister, Mr. Bill Matthews.
There will be 14 workshops covering topics such as Information on Staffing Processes and How to Apply, Alternative Work Arrangements (AWA), Activity Based Workplace, Coaching, Mentoring, GC Tools, Defence Resource Management Information System and SharePoint. There will be over 30 different kiosks, including Recruitment for Reserves, Regular Forces and Civilians, Career Development Programs, National Student Hiring, Awards and Recognition, and many more.
Sign up now! Registration to attend in-person the Panel Discussion, Workshops and/or Career Connections began on September 25, 2018, and will be open until October 17, 2018, while space is available. Attendance is open to all for the kiosks; however, participants are encouraged to sign up, as this will allow virtual access to the online site during the day of the event, and allow you to download any relevant documentation available at the kiosks. This will also give you access to workshops and panel discussions that will be taped and available for 30 days after the event.
*DWAN users must have Google Chrome installed in order to access the virtual broadcast.
