DT News: Op NANOOK, CIOR/CIOMR Summer Congress, and the CAF Imagery Contest

(P) Welcome back to Defence Team News, I’m Lt(N) Phil Henry.
(S) And I’m Shelley Van Hoof. Here are the headlines at Defence.
(P) A signature Canadian Armed Forces Arctic operation, Operation NANOOK, will now function under a new structure.
Its duration is changing to a year-long operation and will amalgamate with Operations NUNALIVUT and NUNAKPUT. It will also integrate up to five smaller-scale northern deployments.
This new structure allows the CAF to work more effectively with other government departments and partner agencies, enabling better collaboration amongst participants and a more persistent presence in the North.
(S) Canada recently hosted the Summer Congress for the Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers and Interallied Confederation of Medical Reserve Officers in Quebec City. These two organizations are sanctioned and formally recognized by NATO.
More than 24 nations came together to discuss prominent issues and viewpoints related to the reserves in support of the alliance, share best practices, and foster reserve officer professional development.
The summer congress also included a 3-day military competition where more than 150 athletes and staff from participating nations tested the skills of reservists in combat-related knowledge.
The CAF has over 27,000 Reserve soldiers, sailors and air personnel across the country who contribute to the defence and security of Canada, while remaining a dynamic and positive force in their communities.
