(J) Bravo Zulu to the Canadian Rangers of the Pikangikum First Nation who quickly sprang into action when a major forest fire threatened their remote Northern Ontario community.
(S) When the fires came within two kilometers of the Ojibway fly-in community, military and civilian aircraft began evacuating residents. The Ranger patrol assisted by preparing aircraft passenger manifests, shuttling residents with their luggage to the airport, and providing food and water to evacuees.
(J) Military aircraft transported most of the evacuees to Sioux Lookout where civilian aircraft are taking them to host communities for lodging.
