Transcript
(LN) As part of Standing NATO Maritime Group Two and Operation REASSURANCE, HMCS Toronto recently deployed to the Black Sea to conduct exercises, maritime patrols, and to help preserve peace and promote security in the region.
We spoke with Commander Martin Fluet, Commanding Officer of HMCS Toronto, to learn more.
(MF) We have three NATO allies in the Black Sea: Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania. In the black Sea, we will conduct maritime exercises, like (exercise) SEA SHIELD, and we will patrol the area to preserve peace and promote stability. (HMCS) Toronto is in company with the Dutch ship (HNLMS) Evertsen, the Spanish frigate (ESPS) Santa Maria, the Bulgarian vessel (BGS) Drazki, the Romania frigate (ROS) Regele Ferdinand, and the Turkish ship (TCG) Yildirim. (HMCS) Toronto is proud to contribute to NATO’s effort to demonstrate the alliance, solidarity, and collective strike.
(LN) That’s it for us. Thank you so much for watching. See you next time for Defence Team News!
