We invite all Defence Team members and current or former students to the first Defence Team Career and Networking Fair taking place on October 17 in Ottawa at the Diefenbaker building, 111 Sussex Drive, as well as in several regional locations, including Petawawa, Esquimalt, Halifax, Kingston, Montreal, Gagetown, and Edmonton. This nationwide event is also going to be available online through a virtual platform, making it easier for everyone to attend from their own workplace or the comfort of their homes.

This Blueprint 2020 initiative echoes one of the numerous ideas raised by the Defence Team during the 2017 Symposium. The Career and Networking Fair is an opportunity to learn more about the diverse and available occupations within the Public Service, Regular Force and Reserves, and explore the various programs and services offered throughout the organization.

You will be able to attend workshops and kiosks and talk directly to subject matter experts, recruiters, peers and functional and organizational leaders.

  • The workshops will cover topics such as information on staffing processes and how to apply, career transitioning, Alternative Work Arrangements (AWA), activity based workplace, coaching, mentoring, GC Tools, Veterans Affairs Canada, Defence Resource Management Information System and SharePoint.
  • There will be over 30 different kiosks, including Recruitment for Reserve, Regular Forces and Civilians, Career Development Programs, National Student Hiring, Awards and Recognition, and many more.
  • This will be complemented with an online networking event, “Career Connections” and a panel discussion on “Keys to Success: Candid advice on how to succeed in your career”.

The Career and Networking Fair is your chance to examine avenues to career enhancement in a single location where all your inquiries can be answered.

Mark your calendars, you do not want to miss out on this!
