Canadian NORAD Region announces Santa’s escort pilots and trackers

In honour of the North American Aerospace Defence Command’s (NORAD) 63rd year of tracking Santa’s yuletide journey from the North Pole, the Canadian NORAD Region (CANR) has named its escort pilots, maintainers and tracking crews for the high-profile assignment.

“The men and women of NORAD keep a watchful eye over the airspace of Canada and the United States 24 hours a day, a duty we are proud to carry out,” said Major-General Christian Drouin, the commander of 1 Canadian Air Division and CANR. “Each year, we take on an additional, but very special responsibility—employing the same technology and systems we use to defend our two countries, to track Santa’s passage and escort him on his journey throughout North America.
