Calling all Defence Team members to Celebrate National Public Service Week
National Public Service Week 2019 (NPSW) will be celebrated from June 9 to 15 to recognize the contributions made by the federal public service employees across Canada.
Under the theme, “Proudly Serving Canadians,” NPSW recognizes the hard work that goes into delivering a wide range of programs and services to support the work of the Government of Canada and the needs of the Canadians in their daily lives.
At the Department of National Defence (DND), public servants have a unique role as they work to support the Canadian Armed Forces. Civilians at National Defence contribute greatly to the successes of men and women in uniform by supporting priorities outlined in Strong, Secure, Engaged, through involvement in procurement, innovation, human resources, financial services, and in countless other ways.
During the course of NPSW, there will be opportunity for National Defence employees to gather in offices, bases, and wings across the country to take part in events and recognize their valuable contributions to Defence, and to Canada. In the National Capital Region (NCR), events will include a BBQ, student engagement events, a round table on mental health with Deputy Minister Jody Thomas, and Celebrating Excellence Awards. There will also be other types of activities such as breakfasts, coffee break, pizza luncheons, and different sporting events across regions to celebrate NPSW.
DND employees across the country are encouraged to post pictures of their team celebrations and events on social media using #ServCDNs
