Phillipe Iloki,

Six deserving Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members were recognized as part of the CAF Recognition Day in the House of Commons from June 12 to 15, 2019. The CAF Recognition Day highlights CAF members who have performed exceptional deeds.

Each participant has been nominated for, or granted a Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) commendation, and identified by the CAF chief Warrant Officer (CWO) through a selection board. Recognition is awarded to members who have performed deeds and activities that go above and beyond expectations or normal duty.

The six deserving recipients represent the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM).

  • Lieutenat (Navy) Andrea Murray, CD – Royal Canadian Navy
  • Master Seaman Sarbpreet Boparai, CD – Royal Canadian Navy
  • Sergeant Mélanine Duchesneau, CD – Canadian Army
  • Corporal David Pigott – Canadian Army
  • Warrant Officer, Mark Meyer, CD – Royal Canadian Air Force

The recipients participated in a number of events, which include tour stops at pivotal Ottawa landmarks such as the Royal Canadian Military Police Musical Ride, and Parliament Hill, as well as a visit to the War Museum. They will also participate in a CDS & CAF CWO’s brunch, where they will be presented with a CDS commendation.

The CAF and the government of Canada are committed to honoring and recognizing the excellent performance of its men and women.
