Transcript
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Well, that’s easy. My superpower that I would choose would be invisibility. As you can see, right now… Can you even see me? Am I not invisible right here?
My name is Lieutenant-Colonel Mark Poland. I’m the commanding officer of the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada and the Commanding Officer of 31 Territorial Battalion Group.
I’m the Commander of the exercise here, Exercise ARROWHEAD SHIELD at Camp Grayling in Michigan and I’m here to do the 60 Seconds challenge.
- How do you balance work and personal time?
So, for reservists, that’s a hard question to answer, to be honest with you. Hum, I guess the way I do it is the way that a lot of reservists do it, and that is that I have a really understanding family. I’ve got twins who are 10 years old, a step-daughter who is 21 and my wife is just awesome. She runs the show and it’s really only possible with an incredible amount of family support.
- What is the best part of being on Exercise Arrowhead Shield?
The best part of being on Exercise Arrowhead Shield is the chance to come together as a consolidated group and to form this Combined Arms Battalion that we’re in.
I get the chance to meet and see soldiers from all over south-western Ontario and we do this once a year in this collective training environment.
- Tell me three words to best describe you.
OK, there’s only one answer to this question, and that is “strong, proud and ready”.
And we’re done. That’s it.
