(S) The Power of Peace was celebrated at this year’s Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.

(J) We spoke to one of the Canadian Armed Forces musicians on what it means to be a part of the long, proud history of this unique event.

(C) This is, I think probably my seventh or eighth time in the Tattoo as a grown-up. I started out when I was a little girl in the children’s choir.

Then I joined the Forces and was here with the ceremonial guard back in 1996, and then I have been with the Stadacona Band for a few years now. I’m happy to be back in this capacity with the Stad Band. We play on the floor, we play up in the pit band, we interact and play various acts with bands from all over the world and many bands from Canada and local, and having a great time.

(S) This year’s theme resonates deeply with the Canadian Armed Forces community and is also an important component of Strong, Secure, Engaged, Canada’s Defence policy, in supporting United Nations peace operations.
