What’s your favourite Canadian celebrity?
I’m definitely a Belieber.
OK, guys. My name is Lt Tyson Hales. I’m an Australian Naval Officer currently embedded with the Canadian-led CTF 150 Combined. I’m here to do the 60 Seconds Challenge. First question.
- What are some of your hobbies?
Definitely the beach. I love getting down to the beach.
- Most interesting part of living and working in the Middle East?
The people you meet. The people of here are absolutely unreal and the people we work with, it’s the same, they’re awesome.
- Why did you join the Navy?
I joined the Navy, a lot of my family has been in the Navy and I wanted to get out and travel the world.
- Is it your first time deploying with the Canadians?
No. I deployed with HMCS Ottawa last year as part of a short-term exchange.
- What movie can you watch over and over again without getting tired of?
Definitely Armaggedon.
- Where are you posted to after CTF 150?
I’m going to HMAS Watson to conduct XO (Executive Officer) Designate Course course before heading up to Darwin to XO one of our patrol boats.
- What do you like most about Canadians?
Definitely just their friendly attitude to everything.
