What is my biggest challenge? Looking good in uniform!

Hello, I’m Beverley McLachlin, Honorary Captain, Navy. Honorary Colonel for the Office of the Judge Advocate General. I’m here to take the 60 seconds challenge.

1. What does the Office of the Judge Advocate General do?

It supports the military in all aspects of justice regarding members of the military, and regarding the relationship between the military and the general public.

2. One item you can’t do without.

My fountain pen.

3. How are you supporting the Office of the Judge Advocate General in your role as that unit’s Honorary Colonel?

I am supporting insofar as I can the JAG by going to different places and talking to the women and men who are serving.

4. What has been the most rewarding work experience of your career?

The highlight of my career will always have been sitting as a Justice at the Supreme Court of Canada and for almost 18 years the Chief Justice. That has been rewarding. It was sometimes difficult. It was always immensely interesting and I always felt that I was doing something important to the country.

Okay. It’s done.
