(DM) Welcome back to a special Defence Team News minute on mental health, I’m Deputy Minister Jody Thomas.

(VCDS) And I’m Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Paul Wynnyk. We’re two of your Defence Team Mental Health Co-Champions.

(DM) January 30th is Bell Let’s Talk Day! We encourage all of you to join the conversation about mental health, both in person and on social media. Initiatives like these work toward breaking down the stigma associated with mental illness by raising awareness and encouraging dialogue about mental health.

(VCDS) There will be an event taking place in Halifax on the 30th, which will include a panel discussion with local Canadian Armed Forces members discussing their experiences. The event will be live-streamed on the CAF’s Facebook page at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, so if you can’t attend in person, you can check out the CAF Facebook page to follow along or watch afterwards.

(DM) And for members in the National Capital Region, you can join us and the Surgeon General, Brigadier-General Andrew Downes, at an event at NDHQ Carling tomorrow.

(DM) The Treasury Board of Canada, in partnership with the Federal Youth Network and the Canada School of Public Service, is also hosting a discussion on mental health featuring Bell Let’s Talk Ambassador, and Grey Cup champion, Shea Emry. The event will be available across Canada by webcast.

(VCDS) It’s important to know that you’re not alone and that there are resources available to support both civilian and military members, as well as their families.

(DM) For more information and mental health resources, visit the Bell Let’s Talk page on the Defence Team intranet. Together, let’s talk.

(VCDS) That’s it for us. Thank you so much for watching. See you next time…
