(J) Welcome back to Defence Team News, I’m Lt(N) Jeff Lura.

(S) And I’m Shelley Van Hoof. Here are the headlines at Defence.

(S) The second Contested Urban Environment Experiment, or CUE18, is taking place between September 10 and 21 in Montreal, Quebec. Over 80 CAF members from the 2nd Canadian Division are taking part in this experiment, which will include a combination of field and simulation-based activities.

Led by Defence and Research Development Canada, this collaborative experiment between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States investigates new and emerging technologies that can improve the effectiveness of military personnel operating in complex cities.

For ongoing updates on the experiment, follow DRDC on Twitter at DRDC_RDDC.

(J) As part of Operation LENTUS, the Canadian Armed Forces deployed members to help protect communities affected by recent wildfires in British Columbia.

Approximately 200 soldiers from 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group deployed to British Columbia, in addition to 35 reserve force members from 39 Canadian Brigade Group.

A team of Royal Canadian Air Force personnel have also deployed to transport firefighting personnel and equipment, support medical evacuations, and move people in remote communities out of harm’s way.

The Canadian Armed Forces is committed to ensuring a strong and continuous coordination with the Province and other government departments and agencies, as all parties work together to help British Columbians during this domestic emergency.

(S) That’s it for us. Thank you so much for watching. See you next time…
